I buy Wellness for my cat…used to use Canidae for my dog but have her on Natural Balance now. I think raw diets are great–I just don’t really have the time to put into it.

I buy Canidae. I thing BARF diets are great if the person is making sure they are giving their pet all of the nutrients they need. That can be more difficult than people think, so it takes a lot of research to do it right.

I feed Canidae but fed BARF for quite a while – my dogs did fine on either.

It can be great. When the person is well educated and knows what they are doing.

But, I travel a lot, and I could never put that strain of feeding a raw diet on my pet sitter. And, when I travel with my dog, there’s no way I’m going to haul raw meat and veggies with me everywhere.

I know that Evo can be a substitute for short periods of time, but my dog doesn’t digest it well.

For me, Natural Balance is fine. She’s gorgeous and we are always being asked about what we feed her and how we take care of her. 75% of the people that touch her immediately comment on how soft she is. Then, they comment on how she doesn’t smell and on how healthy and good she seems in general.

I think a person has to be very dedicated to the time to provide all the exact nutrients when they choose a BARF/Raw Food diet.

Here is a link to a product – Natural Abundance Dog Food – the food is human quality and reasonable

I think a raw food diet takes a ton of research and a HUGE committment. I think there are a lot of people who “claim” they feed BARF, but aren’t actually following the plan. It’s about more than a raw chicken neck here and there.

I buy Innova Evo for my dogs and I am seriously thinking of switching to a raw diet for them. My golden has bone cancer
and I switched her to the Evo. The more I talk to people who have their dogs on a raw diet the more in favor of it I am becoming. I would probably get it from the place I buy the Innova only because the owner is so knowledgeable about the subject
and his two goldens are on a raw diet and they are so healthy.
I have only hesitated switching because I don’t want to upset my goldens regimen and have to get her used to something all over again. I will definitely be switching my lab over to a raw diet at some point, the benefits just seem to out weigh all the negatives.

Ideally, I’d like to feed raw or BARF, but my husband and I travel quite a bit and our boarding facility can’t honor those diets.

So, we comprimised and feed Innova Evo and Merrick wet to our senior dog and Innova Puppy Large Breed for our pup.

I want to feed BARF but I haven’t found a source of quality meat I can afford. I have them on Wellness Core, it is a grain free high protein diet with meat as the main ingredient. Good meat too, not meat byproducts. I will switch to a raw diet when I find a good source of meat.
