What exactly makes a petfood holistic?
I know holistic is best, but can someone describe to me what makes the pet food holistic?

Holistic is REAL fresh food…no wheats no fillers no chemical no preservatives..All natural….Anything that is NOT from the grocery store pet food Aisle is the general definition…The basic recipe is to Make a base of brown rice or sweet potato/yam on top of that add boiled chicken, salmon or lamb on top of that add fresh diced carrot, celery, brocolli …….There are some wonderful sites online with homemade dogfood recipes on them,,Grocery store food is so dangerous and full of the most awful stuff..Check the internet by some USED to be veterinarians who went undercover investigating and researching the dogfood companies to find out what is REALLY in dogfood…I hope you have a strong stomach……Good luck with your adventure of researching Holistic Dogfood…8-)

It usually means it is all natural and free of preservatives.
However, you should not judge a food just because it says “holistic”. Read the ingredients! The word “holistic” is not approved by the FDA and, therefore, almost anyone can throw on the word “holistic” just to make you pay a few dollars more for shabby pet food. The same is true with “human grade”.
“Organic” and “natural” are words approved by the FDA.

holistic is human grade food. has nothing to do with being “natural”. it means the ingredients address the “whole” animal’s wellbeing – not just its hunger
