There are many myths about this diet. I have written some articles on my blog that may help you since you are new. Trimming the fat is only in the beginning, and not with puppies. Just remember how important it is, but just to feed to bowel tolerance. Lola was a rescue and she also came to us with many problems. The raw diet is adding years to her life. But, it has to be done correctly or your dog will suffer if they aren’t getting all the nutrients. I can help you with info if you need it…

Well, i’m new to the B..A.R.F diet and i don’t even have a dog, ive just heard from alot of people lamb has alot of fat so i assumed cutting some of the fat away would be good. But you propably know better :p Great dog by the way i’m hoping to get a rottweiler but where i live rottweilers are suffering hip displacia and all kinds of trouble becouse of bad breeding.

Fat is integral to the diet, so it is important to feed to bowel tolerance. I never recommend trimming the fat if your dog can handle it-but feed to bowel tolerance. Protein and fat are the only 2 building blocks that a dog has-if you limit the fat then the dog will suffer greatly-dull coat, low energy, etc. I wrote an article about this on my blog, which you can find by clicking on my website and the blog tab. It is called “Feed Fat”!

My advice to you is to cut as much fat away as you can before serving.

The meat we get is straight from the supplier and it rarely even has an odor. It doesn’t smell at all. The only thing with lamb is that it is really fatty, so some dogs get the runs…

Do you find that letting her eat lamb gets that lamb musky smell everywhere? I tried lamb with my dog and it got in her fur and she smelled like it for days! Pretty gross.
